Lightning
The image category lightning is divided into two types. Once in the usual thumbnail selection and once in gif animations. The animations show examples of how lightning builds up and discharges and how it can be as bright as day.

The pictures a-c are intended as a reference to see how the view from my window looks with brightness. All reference pictures were taken at night during a thunderstorm. The light that illuminates the scene comes only from the flashes. The difference between lightning (the area is bright as day) and night (reference picture d) is clearly visible.
